About me

I got interested in tech while studying for my bachelor's degree at Cambridge.

I was conducting fieldwork in Qatar (don't ask) and got completely swept up in the hype around "Big Data", which eventually led me to Oxford and a master's degree in Data Science.

Fast-forward to 2025 and while "Big Data" has been thoroughly out-hyped by "AI", my passion for working with awesome tech has only grown. I've worked with a host of awesome companies, from Fortune 500 behemoths to emerging startups, and now have the privilege of advising many more on how to build killer systems with AI and data science.

Here are four things you might not know about me:

  • I am immensely passionate about tech education, particularly for those coming from non-STEM backgrounds (like me)
  • Somewhat unusually for an AI consultant, I'm also really interested in web development, and have worked on various "scrollytelling" websites such as this one for Sky News. My belief is that AI is useless without UI, and I try to bring this philosophy to all the projects I work on
  • I speak conversational Arabic. I will award 5% of the credit for this to my 893-day streak on Duolingo, 5% to my dad, and 90% to some amazing Omani/Egyptian friends
  • My beige flag is that I like the colour beige (can you tell from this website?)

About this website

I built this website with Next.js, ShadCN and TailwindCSS in Visual Studio Code. It's hosted on CloudFlare for a grand total of $0 per month and was inspired by the excellent websites of Josh Comeau, Chris Bakke, Britanny Chiang, Ali Abdaal, and passionfroot.

This is the third version of my personal website (first one came in 2022). I'm a big believer in the power of these little sites and, if you're interested in the thought process behind why and how I built this one, you can read about it here or even get a copy of the template I made here.
